Is a Foam Mattress Better Than A Spring Mattress?

Deciding on a foam mattress, a spring mattress or something entirely different is a question you’ll ask when shopping for a new mattress. Mattress shopping can be overwhelming with so many foam mattresses or spring mattresses out there to choose from. Deciding on which mattress type to choose is usually based on what we’re already accustomed to sleeping on. The reason we made Snuggi a Hybrid is because a mix of foams and springs ensures the Snuggi is universally suitable for optimum support and comfort levels for everyone – supporting your weight, shape and sleeping positions.

Foam only mattress

Foam mattresses offer a number of benefits. Memory foam is designed to give you a little bit of ‘sinking in’, gently cradling your body by adapting to your weight. When memory foam mattresses first came out, a lot of people complained of the foam’s inability to disperse heat and its lack of air-flow. Since then, memory foams have been improved with an infusion of cooling gels that keep your body temperature down to a normal, comfortable temperature.

Other foam type mattresses available are High Density Foams and Latex which is a natural foam type great for air flow and anti-mite protection.

We believe the best sleep is with a combination of all foam types in just the right amounts. A combination of foam types that make up the top comfort layers of the Snuggi Hybrid mattress were chosen to give you the right level of top softness, just the right amount of ‘hug’ and just a touch of ‘bounce’. This allows you to sleep Snuggi and lets the core of the mattress springs below the comfort layers do their job to support your body and provide the right amount of spinal alignment.

Spring-only Mattresses

Spring mattresses have been the long time classic mattress. And springs have evolved greatly over the years. A lot of people still sleep on a cheaper spring mattress constructed in the ‘Bonnell’ Spring system – which is essentially a mesh of springs that forms one sleeping surface of springs. You’ll know if you’ve been sleeping with a partner on a Bonnell  Spring system as every time your partner moves, you wake up.

More expensive, modern mattresses now feature a pocket-spring system to address partner movement. The Snuggi Hybrid mattress uses this kind of pocket-spring system so movement on one side of the mattress doesn’t transfer in ripples to disturb your partner.

The springs in Snuggi are also zoned into 5 varying levels of tension so your shoulders and hips are supported properly.

Read below to see the benefits of sleeping on a multi-layer foam and spring mattress like the Snuggi Hybrid mattress versus sleeping on a mattress with only springs or only foam.
